TELEPHONE:
You may call me at +33 (1) 3955 04 04. From the United States or Canada, dial 011 first.
More often than not, you will have to deal with my answering device, which I leave turned on, even when I am home. If you wish to have a chance to get me online, you must speak to the machine for at least 30 seconds, to leave me enough time to get there and unhook the phone. You may also leave your number, so that I can call you back.
I am also an IRC chats addict... If you wish to contact me, your best bet is to propose me a channel to join you at a specific time (for this, you may send an e-mail) My Hobbies :
I am interrested in a lot of topics, including aviation (I am a private pilot), genealogy, computers and communications, people and human relationship, earth matters (ecology and protection of our environment), history, etc... and, of course, in women...
Diclaimers apply, as neither I nor my cousin can be held responsible for any mistake, error or information missing in this file, which purpose is solely to be used as a guide.
You may choose to first display the namelist, which comes in a textfile with names sorted in alphabetic order. For each name, the date range is displayed, as well as the number of records found in each town or village. Once unzipped this textfile is 290 K in size. You can display it using either "Winword" (convert using the option "DOS TEXTFILE") or "Write", and make use of the search functions provided by this software. Once printed on paper, the file is about 200 pages long.

Below is a very nice genealogical site situated in Québec. Indeed, this site has acquired such a fame, in both North America and Europe, that it has been cited as a "must" by the world wide known French daily newspaper "Le Monde". It really is a reference for anyone searching ancestors in France, New France (now Quebec), Acadia, Louisiana, Belgium, Switzerland, etc...
Click here if you wish to visit a very nice well documented genealogical site for French Canadian, Acadian and French genealogy (link is http://www.cam.org/~beaur/gen/france-f.html)
You will find a lot more many genealogical links on the French version of this page. However, all or most of these sites are in French only.
For your genealogical researches, you may wish to use the French "on line" telephone directory. There is a link below (after "AVIATION") that will take you directly there... It now provides you with full names and addresses...
If you are a private or commercial pilot, searching for a flying club in the Paris region of France, or if you wish to take flying lessons and get a French pilot licence, you may email me, in clicking on the line below

The meetings usually take place on saturdays at 9:00 pm Paris time (GMT+1), that is, 3:00 pm EST.
You should check this with the messages that are being regularly posted on the newsgroups

I think that we have found a satisfactory response to the various problems we've had lately (EFFNET and even NewNet saturated, disconnectings, netsplits and lags, etc...). Indeed, we've discovered a newly started net (only one server) where anyone can connect from anywhere. On feb 22nd, we were practically alone there...
However, this server, which is still on its experimental phase, only has a dynamic IP address so far. It is thus necessary to check, on a daily basis, the server's website, in order to know the current IP address.
Please take note of its url:
(click here to go strait there)
As soon as you have identified the IP address and then connected to the irc server, you should type:
This is now a registered channel, which has been officially reserved for us. It will remain open and be maintained by bot Chanserv.
Needless to say that anyone can use it, at anytime, not only at regular scheduled meeting times. If you go there with your friends instead of going to any other net/channel, you will increase your chances to meet someone else, and your presence will thus contribute to keep this place lively.
French speaking is not a requirement, but you should at least have some understanding of what will be written. If you don't, and still wish to come, it may be that someone accepts to open a DCC chat window with you, depending on how busy is the channel.
On this channel, besides chatting, we are also exchanging files. mIRC allows several ways of file transfers. In my opinion, the best way is the use of the "fileserve" function. Anyone can use it: see the mIRC FAQ. Until then, you can still browse my disk and choose files to pick. In order to be able to do so, you must type:
(bernard being my nick) (the word "server" must be typed as is)
A special icon will then appear, and, in the meantime, you should hear a beep. You must doubleclick in this icon. You will then see on display:
DIR will browse the list for you. Please, don't mix up filenames and directory names. Filenames show a bytes filesize in front of them, while subdirectories names show no such thing.
In order to go to a given subdirectory, type:
(to go to d:\welcirc\genealog\)
and then:
(to go to d:\welcirc\genealog\gedcom\)
To go back one step downtree, just type:
to
You will not be able to go backwards beyond d:\welcirc\, which, on my disk, is your root.
In order to display the list of commands:
To download a file:
When you are done, don't forget to type:
in order to leave the room for other users, if any.
