Job

I'm currently looking for employement opportunities as UNIX system engineer, in the Lille area, or in Belgium (up to Brussels). My résumé in French and English.

Interests

Here is a list of my personal interests:

• Computing
  Anything. Better if it is documented. I hate proprietary file formats. I like open source software a lot. I don't like Microsoft technologies. I used to be a BeOS fan. I'm currently focused on Linux and the free BSD's (FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD) and MacOS X mainly. I'm not sure wether I'll keep MacOS X or not because I'm kinda disappointed with its performance and bugs.
• Cinema and home cinema
  I like watching movies, in a theater or at home.
• Stamps collecting
• Reading
  Mainly science-fiction or adventures.
• Photography
  After doing mostly digital photography with a Kodak DC240 digital camera, I moved back to traditionnal photography. Not that I'm willing to forget digital picture, but I find argentic photography much more versatile. (more...)

Projects

This is mainly a list of software project I am contributing or have contributed in the past. I'm now more focused on Open Source than ever:

Present

• libcwk: this one is like a challenge: documenting and implementing a library to read AppleWorks file format. This file format it NOT documented, at least not publicly. Lot if reverse engineering needs to be done. (GPL)
• AbiWord: MacOS X port, RTF import improvements, Applixware import and miscellanous bug fixes. (GPL)
• Dia: I have contributed a new network object, improved other objects, provided a menu bar to diagram windows (as a user option). (GPL)

Past

• BePDF: a port of xpdf. I stopped almost all BeOS activities so I passed over the project. (GPL)
• slrn: miscellanous bug fixes. (GPL)
• BeInternetCentral: a centralized internet preferences management for BeOS, largely inspired by Internet Config for the Macintosh. This project was written to be in the public domain back in 1997. Due to lack of interest both from me and the users, it has been abandonned. (Public Domain)
• Sans-Faute for BeOS: the BeOS version of the French and English grammar and spellchecker. This project only reached the preview demo state as a proof of concept. It was dropped then. (Commercial Shareware)
• Verba Sapientiae: a MacOS tool that provide verb conjugation in French. (shareware)

Future

Some random ideas I'm thinking about sometimes. This does not mean that I'm committing to do it.

• Porting GTK+ to MacOS X with CoreGraphics
• Porting Dia to MacOS X, using above port. Same for the GIMP.
• Adding a real menu bar to GIMP document windows (I have done a patch for this to Dia, in post 0.88 release)
